COOPERATIVE LEARNING IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION INCREASES SELF-ESTEEM IN FOURTH GRADERS

Accepting heterogeneity as an opportunity for social and knowledge learning not just perceiving it a burden is major task current school systems consequently also teachers. One possibility of successfully dealing with cooperative learning. Due to its prosocial characteristics, physical education (PE) particularly suitable the use forms teaching. Cooperative able fulfill double PE by promoting development personality enabling movement sports culture. However, there are still only few studies examining positive effects in classes on psychosocial health children. The aim present study was examine effect self-esteem fourth-graders comparison traditional A total 127 girls boys took part (66 intervention group, 61 control 60% male). mean age sample at beginning 10.2 ± 1.4 years. group received according curriculum, which carried out through learning, e.g. games. no intervention. There were differences regard age, sex or number participants study. Statistical analysis revealed significant time-by-group resulting self-reported general athleticism (p<.001), attractiveness (p=.015), agility (p=.014), strength coordination (p<.001) overall significantly greater improvement within group.
